First Two Days of Trip to Mexico

group from Cottonwood
Group from Cottonwood Church who went to Mexico August 21-28, 2004

ladies outside Tarahumara shop
Taken from the van window in Creel, on trip there; one of my first glimpses of Tarahumara people. These live in town and sell their handicrafts, sometimes in stores, sometimes on the street, like below.

Martha & girls

Lake at a park where we "met" some Tarahumaras on our way there. (See below.)

Scott and boy

buying handicrafts from girls
The adults have the children sell items to tourists stopping at the lake.

boy who approached me to sell goods

This little boy didn't know quite what to make of me, because I sang "Jesus Loves Me" to him and took his picture instead of buying something. (I'd forgotten to bring any money with me when we left the van.)

On rocks in the park where lake was
They were all smiling at me as I took their picture. Maybe because they heard me singing to the boy? I had no idea they were sitting up above on the rocks, probably listening and wondering what this crazy American woman was doing.
